After coach's home lost in fire, Fort Myers cross country team tries to stay focused 1:22 P.M. — Just one day before the biggest meet of the season, the Fort Myers High cross country runners are focused on helping their coach. Yancey Palmer, who also teaches math at the high school, lost his home and two cars at 1860 Ardmore Road in Fort Myers when a fire that started in the carport gutted the house early this morning. Palmer, his wife Jill and their two children escaped unscathed. The Fort Myers Fire Department said the fire doesn’t look suspicious, but an investigation continues.
