Jay finishes 24th in cross country finalsPublished by
Jay gave it all it had at the girls Class A State Finals at Little Everglades Ranch in Dade City, Fla., and finished 24th overall. Leading the way for the Lady Royals was Leely Trevino, who finished 83rd overall with a time of 21:31.76. Rounding out the finishing order for Jay were Robin Blackmon 92nd with a time of 21:54.16 and eighth grader Jessica Thornton who finished 97th in a time of 22:05.37. Holy Trinity took the girls Class A title with a dominating performance of 50 points followed by Oak Hall with 101 and Providence High with 128. Jay posted a score of 463, as it was only one of two public schools that participated in Saturday’s state finals. Erika Fluehr, a senior from Community School High, took the Class A individual honors in a time of 17:08.76 followed by her sister Kathryn Fluehr who was second in a time of 17:22.49.
