Upperroom Christian's (FLA) Kent hopes to surprise field again

It became a storybook moment when Upperroom Christian senior Emanual Kent came out of nowhere to win the 3,200 meters at the FHSAA Class 1A State Track and Field Finals last April.

Kent can add another chapter of going from underdog to state champion when he lines up for the FHSAA State Cross-Country Championships Class 1A race Saturday morning at Little Everglades Ranch Park in Dade City.

As fate has it, the race will reunite Kent with three of the top runners he upset at the State Track Finals, including Tallahassee Maclay's Patrick Swain, a two-time defending state champion and No. 3-ranked Griffin Jaworski from Trinity Prep.
